Walking the DogsSomething I get asked all the time by my friends and my clients is ‘Vera where do you get the time?’ The most common excuse I hear from people who skipped an exercise class or a gym work out is ‘I didn’t have time.’

Whether the reason is I’m too busy at work or I have kids to look after or some crisis or another came up, time, or lack of it, is always to blame. Yet, every one of us has 24 hours in a day. It doesn’t matter how rich or poor we are. Everyone gets 24 hours.

What we do with this time makes a huge difference to our results. If we want to lose fat, we need to exercise and eat right. Eating right takes time. We may need to plan and prepare our meals in advance. Instead of grabbing oven ready processed foods, we have to spend some time on preparing and cooking fresh, wholesome foods.

The truth is we do have time; we have 24 hours a day; 168 hours a week. We need to spend just 2 hours and 30 minutes per week, exercising. That’s right; just 5 thirty minute sessions per week will increase fat loss and improve fitness. 336 thirty minute slots in a week, if we use 5 of them to exercise it leaves 331 to spend doing all of the other stuff we need to do.

  • Fat loss
  • Increased rate at which our body transfers calories into energy
  • Toning
  • Achieving our desired body shape
  • Improved fitness
  • Strength of body
  • Strength of mind
  • Strengthen the heart and lungs
  • Boosts circulation
  • The increased supply of oxygen exercise promotes gets rid of waste products in the tissues
  • Reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Improve the management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure) high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain and stiffness and diabetes.
  • A sense of achievement
  • Wellness
  • Boosts energy
  • Promotes sleep quality
  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Slows down the aging process
  • Helps us to feel happier

And that’s the short list!

Exercising, stay fit or becoming fit, is not a choice, it’s necessary.Happy

Most of us waste time watching TV or surfing the net or all the other little time wasting activities that we are so prone to doing. I know watching TV, didn’t just waste my time it also caused me to do some unnecessary snacking. Cutting out 30 minutes of TV, and replacing that time with 30 minutes of activity, 5 times per week will increase fat loss, improve fitness, build strength, improve well-being and exercising lifts our mood, so we feel happier. Don’t allow the TV or the laptop to rob you of becoming the person you want to be.

If  watching others, whether fictional or reality stars, living their lives, is stopping you from having the life you really want for yourself, then it is time to switch off and start moving.

You don’t need to find time to exercise, the time is there for you to use, use it wisely.
